Edward Jessop Farquhar

He was born at Sandy Spring, Montgomery County, Maryland September 2, 1843, the son of William Henry and Margaret Briggs Farquhar. He lived on the family farm until he was grown and was educated in common schools but principally at home. He received a Ph.D. degree from Columbia University. On May 29, 1902 he married Mary W. Milam. He served as instructor in English in 1893 and then Professor of History until 1903 at Columbia University. He was Secretary for the Washington Society for Philosophical Inquiry.

Edward Jessop Farquhar was assistant Librarian in the U.S. Patent office from the age of 22 years until his death in 1905. He was quite a noted scholar and scientist who understood thirteen languages.

Henry H. Farquhar

Notes for HENRY H FARQUHAR:
Henry Farquhar attended Cornell University but was not graduated. He was employed as a teacher; then on the U.S. Coast Survey and later as an editorial writer in stastical work for the Department of Agriculture and the Census Bureau, 1900-21. He was co-author with his brother, A.B. Farquhar of
ECONOMIC AND INDUSTRIAL DELUSIONS in 1891. He was a Unitarian. He lived in Washington, D.C. and died in October, 1925.
