Joseph Hibberd died at the home of his son, Israel. He first settled at Pipe Creek, Maryland and afterward bought a farm and mill on Bush Creek, near New Market, Maryland where he remained until 1846. He then abandoned housekeeping and lived with some members of his family in Baltimore, Maryland from 1846 until 1856, in Richmond, Illinois, 1857 to 1860 and then until his death in Mason City, Illinois.
